On the origin of the optative use of the verbal adjective in -l

This paper deals with the origin of optative function verbal adjective in -l Serbian language, a functionally restricted and stylistically marked modal form. Within synchronic analyses, it is usually explained as secondary form: result reducing complex forms, whose constituent represents today. By applying diachronic comparative linguistic analysis shown that formant *-l- Proto-Indo-European origin, appearing both nominal systems Indo-European languages. The diversity formations element by assumption early this was kind particle, which process creating inflection became grammatical morpheme. In Proto-Slavic, originally verbal-nominal form developed two ways: on one hand, produced adjectives (mostly resultatives, but also nuance) and, other, part forms domain non-present (perfect, pluperfect, conditional). independent preserved an archaism, explains its markedness use specific contexts.
